Stretch Your Heart Healthy

A good reason to loosen up daily : the more easily you can touch your toes, the lower your blood pressure and heart disease risk are likely to be, reveals a Japanese study. The most limber over-40 women had about 7% less arterial stiffness (a marker of heart disease) then their less flexible peers. Increased blood flow from stretching may expand arteries, keeping them pliable. For your healthiest heart, continue doing cardio, but stretch for 5-10 minutes afterward when muscles are warm.
